This work was composed in tribute to, and in memory of, the youngest person ever to receive the Medal of Honor, Jack Lucas. A very noble and dramatic work with a brief, slightly aleatoric section giving several snare drummers— at least four—the opportunity to invent their own part for the ten-second ‘war’ section. A real ‘grownup’ piece for young band!
