Great for beginner players
I bought this for my 12 year-old son, and he loves it. Dan Coates has a real knack for arranging pieces so they are easy to play, but still sound decent. My son has been playing for only about a year, and he's finding the songs straightforward to pick up, and he's feeling pretty proud of himself for boosting his repertoire so quickly.

Great Supplemental book
My students in John Thompson First Grade book (and even into the Second Grade book) really enjoy these songs. The arrangements really keep the feeling of the originals intact. Especially nice for recitals, too.

Terrific!
I'm pretty much an adult beginner and found a few of these songs (In Dreams and Somewhere Out There)reasonably easy to play.Haven't tried them all yet but I think it's a book of good choices and well arranged for the grade 1 and 2 students.Go for it!

Great!
I have found this book to be perfect for my students who are in Level 2 method books. Its a little hard for them, but because they like the songs so much, they work harder on them. I find with these songs, I can also work my students a bit harder, having them get each of the songs perfect with rhythm and dynamics. I currently have 5 students working out of this book!
