Disappointed with choice of keys
How about investing in a beginner orchestration book, SoundForth music?Somehow I got a copy of Instruments of Glory for trumpet years ago, and transposed it into F to play in church. The arrangements are nice, but transposing it usually resulted it in being lower than the accompaniment (and too low to project), or too high to be comfortable.I expected that the horn version would have keys that were chosen to suit the horn, but this is basically just the trumpet book transposed (with a sticker on the front of the accompaniment book that says F Horn). Lame. I could never use these for my students, and I don't think anyone feels like playing high A's early on Sunday morning.
