Henry Morton Dunham (1853–1929) was an American composer and organist whose work reflects the Romantic tradition, particularly in sacred and ceremonial music. Born in Brockton, Massachusetts, he studied at the Northeast Conservatory of Music and Boston University College of Music, graduating in the 1870s. His output includes organ sonatas, orchestral works, and numerous church pieces, often characterized by expressive harmonies and liturgical depth.

Palm Sunday is one of twelve organ pieces from Dunham’s New Church and Recital Pieces, Op. 24, published in 1912 by Arthur P. Schmidt in Boston. Palm Sunday evokes the solemn yet triumphant spirit of the Christian observance, using modal harmonies and processional rhythms to reflect the liturgical significance.
