Ge Xu Antiphony by Chen Yi Orchestra - Sheet Music

By Chen Yi

During the 1993-96 seasons, Chen Yi had a three-year residency in San Francisco through Meet The Composer’s New Residencies program, simultaneously serving the Women’s Philharmonic, Chanticleer, and the Aptos Creative Arts Program. Ge Xu (Antiphony) was commissioned by the Women’s Philharmonic as part of this residence, and the work is inspired by the vividly competitive antiphonal singing of the Zhuang minority and folk dancing tune of the Yi minority in Southern China. Ge Xu (Antiphony) is included on the New Albion CD "The Music of Chen Yi."
