Die Motette Exsultate, jubilate KV 165 gehšrt zu den kleineren kirchenmusikalischen Werken, die Mozart am erzbischšflichen Hof zu Salzburg geschrieben hat, zŠhlt aber heute zu den bekanntesten kirchenmusikalischen Kompositionen Mozarts. Als Textvorlage diente eine freie Psalmdichtung, wie sie sich als literarische Gattung im damaligen Italien gro§er Beliebtheit erfreute.Die Form entspricht der italienischen Sinfonia: zwei schnelle Arien umschlie§en einen langsamen Mittelsatz, dem ein kurzes Rezitativ vorausgeht. Mit dem Schlu§satz, einem koloraturreichen Alleluja, wird ein Bezug zur Liturgie hergestellt.

Very good
This underrated work by Mozart is suitable for sopranos or mezzos who tend higher. I sang the whole work in my first Masters recital and it really helped me flesh out my mid range (I'm a lyric coloratura). This particular edition is very good because the print is a good size, easy to read for both singer and accompanist. The book is thin and easy for the pianist to turn its pages. It even comes with a brief history of the compositional context as well as a literal translation (rather than a poetic translation). The only issue I have with this edition is that, in the 3rd and 4th movements, gracenotes are written where they should be notated as plain 16th notes - the gracenotes look confusing. Also, the recitative section is missing those typically Mozartian ornaments at the cadences. A good teacher will tell you to add them in, but it would make this edition even better if they were notated into the score. Very good orchestral reduction. I recommend this book!
