I have really enjoyed writing this piece for young band and guitar. My grandson Owen, who plays trumpet in his middle school band and really loves playing guitar outside of school, helped me compose this fun selection, which features an electric guitar (with distortion) and the percussion section. Both the band parts and the guitar part are very attainable for beginning students and will be a blast to perform. Every band room I visit has a guitar player hidden somewhere, and I am sure there is one in your room that would love to play this piece at a concert with the band.There is a drum set part written out for the percussion section and I would recommend choosing one or the other, but not doubling the part. Either way works fine. Make sure to feature the guitarist visually as well as having enough amplification for them to be heard easily. The guitar part is basically power chords which are easy for a beginning guitarist, and there is a short solo section which can be improvised if you want, although there is an easy written guitar solo included. This piece is very different from standard wind literature and so much fun for the students (if you are into that sort of thing). Audiences will love it!
