Advanced flute-finally!
I've been looking for flute pieces with CD that can be played before church services on Christmas Eve. Most music I had found was simply melody only. Finally, I found this book that starts with the melody with added flute touches, then the mid-section is usually descant flute with the melody in the accompanying CD. My only disappointment is that 4 of the 10 tunes are so wildly rhythmic so that it is not church material. They would be fun to play for a secular crowd outside of church, though. The accompaniments are very orchestral and interesting. Not boring by any means. I would recommend this book if you are intermediate to advanced player. I majored in flute in college and since play weekly with an orchestra, so I admittedly could tackle even harder music, but I was able to get one of these songs ready for our pre-Christmas Eve concert at church with just a couple practices.
