Franz Krommer (1759–1831) was a Czech-born composer and one of the most respected writers of wind music during the late Classical era. Known for his clarity of writing, balanced forms, and a style reminiscent of Haydn and Mozart, Krommer eventually served as Composer to the Imperial Court in Vienna.
The Concerto for Two Clarinets in E-flat Major, Op. 91, is one of his most celebrated works for clarinet, distinguished by the virtuosic dialogue between the two soloists and the elegant orchestral writing characteristic of the Classical period.
