This classic hymn tune has been arranged into a joyous, upbeat chorale partita in the tradition of Walther, Pachelbel and Zachow. A somewhat repetitive melody has been transformed into three very different variations.
First, the hymn melody is arpeggiated in the opening movement. The mood changes to minor, as the tune is transformed into a spritely medieval dance in the second variation. Finally, a cheerful bicinium rounds out the partita. This suite of dance-like pieces are sure to inspire your Easter congregregations.
