Britannica is geïnspireerd door de Pomp and Circumstance marsen van Edward Elgar. Een speelse, afwisselende introductie leidt naar het gedragen hoofdthema, dat herinnert aan de glorietijd van het Britse rijk. Het wordt neergezet door het hout en herhaald in een ruimere orkestratie. Dan komt het openingsdeel terug maar al snel neemt de muziek een andere wending en tenslotte komt het hoofdthema in volle bezetting terug. Een korte, levendige finale besluit deze dankbare compositie.

Britannica is inspired by Edward Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance marches. A playful, varied introduction leads to the majestic main theme, recalling the heyday of the British Empire. It is played initially by the woodwinds, and then repeated in full orchestration. The opening section returns but quickly the music takes a different turn and finally the main theme returns in full glory. A short lively finale closes this worthy composition.

Britannica a été inspiré par les fameuses marches Pomp and Circumstance d’ Edward Elgar. Une introduction enjouée et variée mène au thème principal lyrique, qui fait revivre l’époque de gloire de l’empire Britannique. Le thème est joué d’abord par les bois et répété par un orchestre plus large. Le mouvement du début revient mais rapidement la musique prend une autre tournure et finalement le thème principal revient en en grande formation. Une finale brève et animée conclut cette composition gratifiante.

Britannica erinnert an die Pomp and Circumstance Märsche von Edward Elgar. Die verspielte, abwechslungsreiche Einleitung leitet über zu einem getragenen Hauptthema, das an die Glorie des britischen Empire erinnert. Es erklingt zunächst im Holz , dann in einer umfangreicheren Instrumentation. Nach Wiederkehr der Einleitung nimmt die Musik schnell einen anderen Charakter an. Am Ende kommt das Hauptthema noch einmal im Tutti zurück. Ein kurzes, lebhaftes Finale rundet diese dankbare Komposition ab.
