This holiday chart, "I Can't Stop Dreaming of a Blue Christmas," is truly one-of-a-kind. It cleverly blends various timeless melodies with the main "Blue Christmas" theme, while using the iconic groove of Count Basie & Frank Sinatra's "I Can't Stop Loving You." The melodies pass around the sections, playing off and over each other, and the piano part features a late 50s triplet feel, reminiscent of Fats Domino's "Blueberry Hill." Chord changes are provided for the piano, bass, and drum charts. Both the lead tenor (Sax) and bass trombone get short solos, with the bass trombone having the freedom to play freely and not adhere to the lower octave. The arrangement is in Eb, with the lead trumpet written up to concert Bb and the lead trombone up to concert G. It's also a fun teaching tool for introducing the 12/8 time signature and beginning blues harmonies. It's a great addition to any holiday performance for intermediate to professional ensembles.
