Superb Piano Solo Collection, Not for Vocal Coaching
As a collaborative pianist, I appreciate the intricate and substantial piano writing in Billy Joel's 'Fantasies & Delusions.' The SMP Level 7 arrangements show thoughtful classical influence, making them engaging solo pieces. However, for vocal coaches, note that this is a dedicated piano solo folio without lyrics or a vocal line, so it's not suitable for direct singer accompaniment.

A Delightful Classical Journey with Billy Joel!
I absolutely adore this collection! As an adult learner, tackling Billy Joel's 'Fantasies & Delusions' has been a wonderful challenge. The late intermediate level (SMP 7) means I really have to work at the 4-5 note chords, but it's incredibly rewarding to play these beautiful, classical-style pieces by the 'Piano Man' himself. So enjoyable and helps me unwind after a long week!

Excellent for Late Intermediate Students
This collection is fantastic for late intermediate students (SMP Level 7). The pieces, while challenging with 4-5 note chords and octaves, are beautifully arranged and offer great opportunities for musicality. The included fingerings are very helpful, and the clear Hal Leonard engraving makes for excellent readability, aiding in both rhythm and note reading development. A wonderful bridge to classical repertoire.

Film Music
The music here might best be described as film music. As serious music, there is a lack of direction and structure. Billy's best work is as a lyricist. Elton John writes more sophisticated music and lets Bernie Taupin write the words. Billy's music covers many styles and voice types. There is some interesting work in his early albums from the Seventies.

Fantasies and Delusions
I was classically trained as a pianist, but have always loved and played all kinds of music. My children introduced me to Rock n Roll! I love Billy Joel's songs and was thrilled to learn he composed this classical music. I bought the cd as well. My favorite is nunleys waltz. A truly modern day musical genius!
