This collection contains 16 traditional fiddling tunes from across North America. They are arranged in a theme and variation format, typical of American fiddling. The authentic fiddling style harmonies are written so that various combinations from solo instrument with piano to duets and trios to full string quartet/orchestra are possible. Includes a 32-page pull-out part containing the cello melody solo , cello harmony and piano accompaniment. American Fiddle Tunes for Solo and Ensemble books are written as ensemble books, so they can be played as solo books with piano accompaniment or together as ensemble.

arrangements with great flexibility
just used 2 tunes from this collection with some young students on a Cabrillo Youth Strings chamber concert and it was great. I really appreciated the flexibility of the mix and match parts so that many different combinations can play, and the Cello part with the solo melody so we could have the cello play a break. Also it was good that there were chords in some of the parts as we had a guitar and bass reading from chords. Only suggestion is to split the solo melody between 1st and 2nd parts (for instance, Jolie Blonde, which we played) so the 2nd doesn't get bored. We did this anyway because I cut the pages so that each got the melody.
