Advanced Level
This collection has some wonderful titles. However, I was expecting it to be at a more intermediate level & it's advanced, going into higher positions, etc.

Heifetz arrangement?
Does anyone know that the Beau soir by Claude Debussy is the famous Heifetz arrangement? I'm a professional violinist so I also wonder if the rest of the pieces are not simplified versions for beginner. Thanks!!!

37 Violin Pieces You Like To Play - Violin/Piano
Nice solos. However I was disappointed in the small number of easy pieces to use with advanced beginners - those who have studied about a year but have not progressed to positions and higher level playing. The description led me to believe there would be more pieces. Or, it could have been wishful thinking.

highly recommended! a tuneful delight
In 1963, my father (an enthusiastic amateur violinist) presented a copy of this anthology to me on my tenth birthday. I had a strong feeling he was trying to tell me something! Decades later, my vintage copy is in sad, patched-up state, and I am so glad that this book is still in print (and reasonably inexpensive as well). As soon as I've finished writing this review, I'm placing an order!DETAILS FOLLOW: These are original violin/piano duets and a number of excellent transcriptions in this volume. Good for competitions and audition events, as well as soirees. Eastern European music is refreshingly represented here. (The piano reduction of Tchaikovsky's Canzonetta is one of the best I've found.)
