Dr. Immanuel Abraham
24 Caprices for Solo Violin
2nd Edition

These twenty-four caprices are a collection of advanced repertoire for unaccompanied violin written between 2010 and 2020. The number of works is a tribute to four violin performer composers of the past whose works I have studied, performed, and taught. Each wrote a collection of 24 caprices for solo violin as well. Namely, these are Pierre Gaviniès (1728-1800), Jaques Pierre Joseph Rode (1774-1830), Niccolò Paganini (1782-1840), and Jakob Dont (1815-1888).

Caprices for solo violin
Dr. Abrahams recent publication of his 24 Caprices for Solo Violin are a great addition to the violin solo repertoire. The works explore not only technical aspects of the instrument but also moods and expressions. As the predecessors of which these pieces were inspired by, the new 24 caprices make use of the most resonant keys of the violin, G, D, A, C, E, both in the major and minor modes, and the rare Eb minor. The pieces feature and explore double-stops, string crossings, and a good array of bowings, although there are no extended-techniques being used here. The works make use of Fugue and Passacaglia, a reminiscent of J.S. Bachs Sonatas & Partitas, as well as some typical dances such as the Waltz, but also Tango and even some Fiddle-Tunes. These new compositions will be a delight and a challenge to the player. Rubn D. Salazar, DMA

24 Caprices
Great set of pieces. Many different styles of music makes practicing more enjoyable. This is also great for teaching key modulation, time changes, sight reading, rhythm practice, and so on. This book will be a great addition for anyone who plays violin.

Fantastic!
Dr.Abraham's Caprices are inspiring, playful, and technically diverse! I would recommend them for the intermediate to advanced violinists. His interesting exercises incorporate both modern and classical styles, and my violin students love them!

24 Caprices by Dr. Abraham Immanuel
Wonderful array of pieces! I love the many styles incorporated in this book. These Caprices definitely take the bland out of rehearsing and keep me rehearsing and playing during these times.

Diverse!
The music is very diverse. jazzy stuff, fiddle, different periods of classical. Im impressed with the details and skill writing these different styles.difficulty is pretty much between Kreisler and Paganini. this composer knows the instrument very well and writes very well for it.nothing boring anywhere for sure. I love it!
