Recorded by Dean Martin. Edited by Jeffrey Sultanof and Rob DuBoff. Arranged by Nelson Riddle. Jazz Vocal. Jazz, Swing. Score and parts. Published by Jazz Lines Publications (JL.JLP-9041).
Without a doubt this is one of most famous vocal studio orchestra arrangements, recorded by Dean Martin in 1960. Nelson Riddle crafted a deceptively simple arrangement that is hard swinging and a marvelous showcase for the vocalist. Not a very long arrangement in duration, the chart features an 8-bar string soli followed by a saxophone soli of equal length. The arrangement was originally written by Riddle with 2 violin parts, viola, and 2 celli. A 3rd violin part has been added that is a combination of the first two violins (divisi throughout). An optional synthesizer part has been included that may be used in place of the strings; however, we highly recommend using string players. There are no saxophone doubles. The vocal key is Eb.
Please note: This publication has been prepared directly from Nelson Riddle's original score and the parts used during the recording session - this is not a transcription.
