What the River Says / Aer Enim is a medley of two songs with a river theme: an original composition by harpist Monica Schley, and a song by Medieval mystic Hildegard von Bingen.

"What the River Says,” is inspired by two wonders of the Pacific Northwest: the Methow River of Eastern Washington, and the late great poet William Stafford. "What the River Says,” borrows a line from Stafford's poem, "Ask Me."

"Aer Enim" is a chant written by Hildegard von Bingen arranged for harp. Hildegard von Bingen was a Medieval composer, herbalist, artist, musician, and spiritual teacher. A Catholic nun who lived in Germany 1000 years ago, her timeless wisdom continues to be an inspiration today.
