A newly discovered waltz by Frédéric Chopin was unveiled on October 28, 2024, at the Morgan Library & Museum in New York. This manuscript, dating back to between 1830 and 1835, was identified as Chopin's first new piece to surface in nearly a century. Found by curator Robinson McClellan among the Arthur Satz Collection, the piece measures just 24 bars and lasts under a minute—much shorter than most of Chopin's waltzes. Despite its brevity, the work is complete and showcases Chopin's characteristic melodic "tightness."
