This Trisagion, or hymn to the thrice holy God, begins with a haunting call from a tenor solo. As all tenors and basses reinforce the prayer in a duet with the soloist, the congregation’s hearts and voices will be eager to join with "Holy, holy, holy" even as it becomes a capella. The choir confidently returns with the Trisagion theme, and a soprano descant prompts the meditation on our Holy God to blossom fully before the anthem concludes with an a capella hymn reference. Stunning!
