The arrangement of this popular number one song on the charts in 1973 is set for string quintet. It would work equally as well for string orchestra or string quintet/quartet. The 1st violin part carries the melody line throughout with the 2nd violin part providing an harmonic accompaniment with the same type of rhythms as the 1st violin part. The viola part has off beat rhythms and the cello line has a fragment of the melody and syncopated rhythms. The bass line provides the beat and to be played pizzicato throughout.
