Michael Burkhardt's setting for SATB choir and organ of Rich Oelschlaeger's text, an impressionistic reflection of the Easter morning story. The freely chant-like choral writing shows a carefully nuanced attention to the text and hints at familiar Easter tunes.

The Alleluia chant refrain is based on the Gregorian antiphon, "Lapis revolutus est:" The stone is rolled away from the entrance of the tomb. Whom are you seeking, O woman, the living among the dead? Do not cry, Mary. The Lord is risen! Alleluia! (Luke 24:2, 5-6; John 20:15). Appropriate throughout Eastertide, this piece would also make a fine Alleluia and Verse.
