Fifteen well-known hymns
Here are 15 duets for piano and organ for a variety of occasions throughout the church year. There are selections for Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving and general occasions. These settings are derived from Joel's popular series of "Worship Openers." While the "Worship Openers" are extended works that include optional handbells, choir, and sometimes brass, these arrangements have been condensed and modified in order to make them more accessible for busy church musicians who are looking for exciting preludes, offertories, and special music. Two books are needed for performance.

I love these arrangements by Joel Ramey! They are challenging but so beautiful, new and refreshing to this seasoned musician.

Very satisfying
These arrangements are a breath of fresh air for some favorite hymns. The harmonies and rhythms are creative and will require some practice, as another reviewer said. They are longer than some standard prelude music at 4-5 minutes, and they feel rather festive, but the two I've used have been fine for normal Sunday preludes. Raney has used a sectional approach so that there are memorable vignettes and changes of mood within each piece. As a pianist and an organist, I would say that the piano parts require a higher level of skill than the organ parts.

Festive Hymn Settings For Piano and Organ
Really nice arrangements of well known hymns. They are nicely balanced between the piano and organ allowing each instrument to have the spotlight. As a pianist I was pleasantly surprised to find that the pedalling for the organ arrangements was quite accessible and usually not an issue. Definitely worth purchasing!

The collection offers very exuberant and flashy arrangements of familiar hymns. The organ and piano parts are quite demanding and will require practice and expertise for both keyboard players.

Festive indeed
Think of this book as full of toccatas with multiple key changes, staccato, flashy. The piano has lots of octaves. Exuberant.
