The British duo, Flanders and Swann, were the actor and singer Michael Flanders (1922-1975) and the composer, pianist and linguist Donald Swann (1923-1994) who collaborated in writing and performing comic songs. A chance meeting in 1948 led to a musical partnership writing songs and light opera that have been sung by performers such as Ian Wallace and Joyce Grenfell.In December 1956, Flanders and Swann performed their own two-man revue "At The Drop Of A Hat," which opened on New Year's Eve. Over the course of 11 years, Flanders and Swann gave nearly 2,000 live performances. Although their performing partnership ended in 1967, they remained friends afterwards and collaborated on occasional projects.This songbook brings together 41 classic songs and represents a definitive collection.

Frustrated
I bought this book, and it is excellent - except that, for example:The Gnu: The lyrics are interspersed amongst the piano part, which makes the piano part too small for my old eyes to read, and therefore I cannot play it comfortably. It also means that the music is spread out over too many pages, and this also creates a visual problem.Where oh where can one buy F & S sheet music, for individual songs, without having to get it from this book?

Could this be the best?
Well quite possibly, if only I havent been waiting for 6 months for the bloody thing!I have sent emails which occasionally get a reply, promising to send it, then I hear nothing for months, I email several times and presumably my emails get lost in the same place the music does?I was very excited about receiving this, now I find I want my money back?CheersPhill

such a possibility
Well, Im sure this songbook is great, The problem is I havent bloody received mine. 4 months on and Im still waiting and this company are ignoring my emails - do I have to write a review on every piece of music on here to get your attention???

Wonderful book for fans
This is a great book for fans of Flanders & Swann. It contains loads of everyone's favorite songs, and some I've never heard. I've only played over a few, but the piano transcriptions are very good; they are close enough to allow one to imitate the recorded performances.Some are of intermediate difficulty, some a little above that.

Songs of Michael Flanders & Donald Swann
I bought this for one particular song. It contains good information about Flanders & Swann, and includes many seldom heard songs along with the well known ones.However, the way it is bound, prevents me from using it on my piano. There is no way I can keep the pages open, as my piano doesn't have (and can't be fitted with) fittings to hold the pages back. I split the binding in order to open it enough for photocopying the necessary pages.
