Aguado's Complete Works (almost)
This volume, the 3rd in Chanterelle's 4-volume series of Aguado's complete works, is the most essential of the four. It contains all of Aguado's works with opus numbers with the exception of his Nuevo Metodo para Guitarra (op.6). All works are reprinted from the original editions, easily readable and quite legible, with the sole exception of op. 5, which is reproduced in facsimile from a handwritten manuscript.Most of the works are collections of valses, contredanses, and other short pieces varying widely in difficulty between beginner-intermediate to somewhat advanced. The Fandango Varie, Menuet Affandango (op.15, 16) and Trois Rondo Brilliants (op.2) are to my knowledge the only works from the volume to have been recorded and are relatively advanced in difficulty. Overall the volume is an essential collection for the serious classical guitarist, particularly for the guitarist with a focus on the 'classical period,' alongside volumes by Sor and Giuliani.
