Ponce Guitar Works--Beware

If you are a guitarist, planning to learn one or more of the pieces in this book, beware! As another reviewer noted, there are no fingerings here. Beyond that, the opening Allegro from Sonata Clasica differs substantially from the version played by Segovia, Jason Vieaux and others. It could be that other pieces in this collection are also somewhat different from what one would expect. I don't yet know. The price is right, but in this case, you get what you pay for. I recommend you buy each of these pieces individually (the Schott editions are fine).

Excellent reference guide

I use this edition to compare the original manuscripts by Ponce to the Segovia arrangements. If you're looking to perform the Ponce works, use this as a supplement to the Segovia versions. With no fingerings and Ponce's sometimes unfeasible voicings, this doesn't make for the best performance edition, but as a reference guide, it's outstanding. Hoppstock has helpful notes on each piece in English and in German.
