The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire) by Christina Aguilera Piano Solo - Digital Sheet Music

By Christina Aguilera

"Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire" is one of the images and tunes we think of when we think of Christmas. That's why it's secondary title is "The Christmas Song". It was written in 1945 by Bob Wells (age 22) and Mel Torme (age 19!). They were in California during a very hot summer, and wanted to write a Christmas song to stay cool! Bob recollected times as a child in Boston that street vendors would sell roasted chestnuts in paper cones at Christmas time. Nat King Cole recording the song four times from 1946-1961. It became a hit after the second recording. The original recording was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1974, and in 2022 the 1961 recording was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the U.S. National Recording Registry. This arrangement by Amy J Snyder is for advanced intermediate level and is full of rich, beautiful chords and arpeggios. This is a MUST for your Christmas repertoire. Great for parties, retirement home performances, recitals, and your own enjoyment.
