Spoken: Joseph finds out they have to go to Bethlehem to pay taxes….

A decree went out from Caesar Augustus that the whole world should be enrolled.

Joseph too went up from Galilee from the town of Nazareth to Judea,

to Bethlehem to be enrolled with Mary his betrothed who was with child.

Verse 1:

Mary and Joseph traveled to an inn. But, the innkeeper had no room for them

He let them spend the night In his stable full of hay

That’s where baby Jesus was born that Christmas day.

Verse 2:

Joseph stood and marveled at the holy sight

Around the baby’s head seemed a glowing light

Mary held the baby and rocked him off to sleep

She kissed him gently, then she began to weep.

They weren’t tears of sorrow. They were tears of joy

There was something special about the baby boy

We’ve all heard the stories just as they were told

About the little baby who shivered in the cold.

Some Shepherds heard the news of that Special Night

They followed the star above that was shining bright

They knew in an instant, the baby was the King

And from the heavens, Angles began to sing

They too had followed, the same bright star

As they gave the baby gifts, Mary realized

How special Jesus was and tears filled her eyes.
