A great selection for Advent
This piece made a great addition to our Advent repertoire. For most of our choir, the two hymn tunes were familiar, and this arrangement has the tunes included more or less without alteration, with a lovely piano accompaniment. Later in the piece, Dengler cleverly weaves the two tunes together, almost in a sort of 'partner-song' format, with a nice ending. (It's a long hold for the upper voices on part of the final page, which we accomplished with staggered breathing.) Because of the familiar tunes and the way they are used, all but the last page of this anthem could be put together in 1-2 practices with our choir. I heartily recommend this as a nice, accessible choice for worship or seasonal concert use!
