Bourdeau composed a number of works for organ in addition to a bassoon method, and three solos de concert for bassoon and piano. The First of these have become standard repertoire for modem bassoonists. The Second Solo is not as familiar and the Third all but unknown. The First and Second Solos have served as contest pieces at the Paris Conservatory, but there are no records indicating such use of the Third Solo.
The Third Concert Solo follows tradition in the structure of slow introduction and then a fast, technical remainder of the piece. The main body contrasts sections of triplet activity with more lyrical material.
