I chose Solissimo as a general title for a series of works for unaccompanied instruments.
Solissimo IV was written for Gyula Stuller, one of the co-principal violinists of the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne (Switzerland) as a gesture of recognition of an artist who has generously and often offered his advice with respect to musical and technical issues such as the phrasings and bowings of the string parts of my orchestral works.
This work is an Hommage to Paganini in the form of a free fantasy departing from his very famous Caprice no. 24.
The premiere was given by the dedicatee February 22, 2009 in the Temple of Fribourg, Switzerland.
