Few (if any) traditional carols are in an exact pentatonic scale, hence my creative tweaking of familiar melodies which although now mostly new in form, evoke the moods of the originals. And since all of these pieces are my arrangements and not strictly the originals, I have given new names for each piece while indicating what the new work was based on.
These easy tunes are written for the Seven String Lyre, using the pentatonic scale. They celebrate the coming of the First Harvest with a variety of moods; dancelike, thoughtful, airy, and joyful. It is my hope that even the beginner lyre player can with practice play these tunes.
