Written for the full power of the brass choir, the work explores the concept of resilience through its harmonic language.
Performance Notes: At the heart of this piece is a challenge to the performer’s musical instincts: "Believe the notes." The score features purposeful, unresolved dissonances that are intended to stand defiant rather than seeking immediate resolution. Educators and students are encouraged to lean into these clashes. This approach is symbolic of the work’s deeper meaning: just as the ear adapts to acoustic tension, eventually accepting past dissonances as a new "comfort zone," so too does the human spirit expand its capacity to find peace and stability amidst chaos.
This is a work that requires conviction, offering ensembles a unique opportunity to explore the relationship between acoustic tension and narrative resolution.
