Composed by Robert Schumann. Arranged by Paul Taylor. This edition: pdf. Romantic Period. Score. 2 pages. Paul Taylor #5820985. Published by Paul Taylor (A0.803337).
This andante espressivo from the first movement of Schumann's piano concerto is one of the most beloved passages of 19th century music. The orchestra parts have been seamlessly integrated into the solo piano part. Although the suggested pedaling may appear needlessly specific, it is a realistic example of pedaling that a professional might use. Phrasing, dynamics and some fingerings are also included. An intermediate pianist would be able to perform this piece easily, as the septuplets and awkward "jumps" have been modified without diminishing the quality and content of the passage. It is a fitting recital piece, able to stand on it's own as a solo and is in the original key of A-flat.
