Published by Jackel Fung (A0.1734244).Written in May 1828, just six months before his death, Schubert’s Three Piano Pieces, D. 946, are among his final works for solo piano. Though often compared to his Impromptus, these pieces stand on their own, each exploring a unique emotional landscape. Left unpublished during his lifetime, they were later discovered and edited by Brahms in 1868.
In this orchestration, the piece takes on a new dimension, by not only adding my interpretation into it, but also allowing the timbral contrasts and harmonic colors to shine in ways that go beyond the piano’s capabilities. The orchestral setting enhances the drama and lyricism, bringing out the symphonic potential that was always embedded in Schubert’s writing.
