Composed in 1692, The Fairy-Queen is a semi-opera by Henry Purcell, based on Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. As Purcell’s longest theatre score, the work blends Baroque music with theatrical spectacle. Lost for centuries, the manuscript was rediscovered in 1901.
