My Prelude on the Christmas carol tune Stille Nacht ("Silent Night") was created with a 3-manual organ in mind, though it might be possible to play it on a 2-manual instrument, depending on the stop list. The three different settings of the tune are intended to be played as a unit, though the cadence that concludes the second setting allows the performer the option of omitting the final setting. The tune appears first in the left hand, then in the pedals, and finally in the soprano voice. The middle setting, in the dominant key, is harder to play than the outer sections, primarily because of the trio texture and quicker rhythmic movement. As one might expect, the three settings are distinguished from one another primarily by their accompanimental styles and suggested registrations. I have provided a full-length recording to aid the prospective buyer in the decision-making process. I encourage you to search the Sheet Music Plus or the Sheet Music DIrect website for other hymn arrangements of mine, some for organ and others for piano.
