Definitely the worst edition of this method. Edited by a violinist, not a bassoonist. Directors who use this edition don't know what they are dealing with. I recommend the New Weissenborn Method by Doug Spaniol, 2013 edition.

The Weissenborn Method is 'the bassoonist's bible'. There are several editions available. This is the worst of them. Ambrosio wasn't even a bassoonist and this shows in the many errors in this edition. I recommend 'The New Weissenborn Method for Bassoon' by Douglas E. Spaniol. If you want the 'old' Weissenborn Method, get the one by Bettoney, not the one by Ambrosio.

This book, as many before me have said, is the bassoon bible. It is better suited for a musician who already has some background in music rather than a beginner. It starts off with very basic exercises, and continues to even college level etudes. This is a must-have for a bassoonist of any level.
