For the Key of C Major

  • Map out your Fingerboard
  • Learn the Notes of a Scale
  • Learn the Chords of a Key

These arrangements are intended for one wishing to learn more about notes and chords.
It began as a self-directed study in how to "map out" my fingerboard.
That is, I wanted to be able to better ascertain why a note was used, and to which chord it belonged.

Although I began the Exercise book (also available in my shop) https://www.patreon.com/posts/scales-chords-141190987?utm_medium=clipboard_copy&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=postshare_creator&utm_content=join_link) as a way to teach myself about the seven notes in a diatonic scale, the seven chords built from those diatonic notes, and how to instinctively know how it all fit into the specific chord scheme, I found that these arrangements were more than exercises.

It turns out that some very basic accompnanimental patterns are somewhat pleasing, although a sophisticated accompaniment might be more satisfying.

You can use this book as a catalyst to learn more about the notes and where they lie on your fingerboard. It will show you more about chords and how one organizes the left hand in preparation to play each chord.

I know that both of my books will prove to be useful exercises because when one reads about the lives of great composers and, indeed, is assigned an exercise in music theory, we can find examples of pupils engaging in much a similar task. I have shown 10 examples, using real pieces, how one can apply the chords (often arpeggiated) in a musical situation. You can find other pieces to practice on or even rework these 10 in this volume to satisfy your own musicality.
