A well written composition
I played this as part of my pre-service music at a large Lutheran church last weekend. I received no comments from anyone, good or bad. I don't think anyone recognized the tune. This is one of those pieces that I played because I like it, and I hoped others would. It's very nicely written and stays faithful to the hymn tune melody. NOT an easy piece with lots of 16th and 32nd notes accompanying the melody. One needs to choose stops for that accompaniment that keep from masking the melody. If you like Suo Gan, I believe you will love this paraphrase. I believe the hymn tune had origins in Wales but I may be wrong.
