Bring the beloved Irish folk song Paddy’s Green Shamrock Shore to life with this expressive SATB arrangement for capable high school, community, and college choirs. This 4:20 setting is written for upper-intermediate to advanced-intermediate ensembles and includes an independent piano accompaniment that supports the choir while maintaining its own rhythmic and harmonic interest.
The arrangement is through-composed across four verses, each varied slightly to build musical shape and maintain engagement for all voice parts. Written in C major, the piece incorporates Dorian color as well as G-minor and B-flat harmonies that reinforce the folk character. The 6/8 and 9/8 meters create a natural triple-feel flow, while both piano and vocal parts use divisions of the beat in two and three.
