The opera Gli Orazi e i Curiazi by Domenico Cimarosa (1749 - 1801) was performed in Venice in 1796 and was the most successful of his compositions belonging to the serious genre. The Overture consists of an introductory Lento, followed by a fast section, which starts with an inciso identical to that in the Nozze di Figaro and is written in sonata form.
