A rewarding 20th Century gem
I sang this under Wm. Hall at Chapman, over 30 years ago; and I have remembered it fondly ever since. The piece is not difficult vocally, and the voice leading actually makes sense, as do the 'clusters' the piano part has to play. It sounds (at first sight) to be as atonal as all get-out, but it is actually not that hard to learn- and the sense of accomplishment (along with the immense enjoyment of the text) makes it a very rewarding 'challenge' piece for college choirs. Why? Because!

LOVE THE SONG
My choir is the advanced choir (out of three), this song is a challenge! Nothing about it is easy, and you have to work hard for it. Our conductor heard it at ACDA Nationals, and has loved it since. A few of the students said it sounded like the person was on acid when it was composed; not to mention, the person that had written it committed suicide shortly after. This song is astounding yet weird. I recommend it to any choir who is serious, dedicated, and has proper technique.
