Composed by James F. Hodgdon III. Concert,Contemporary,Standards. Octavo. 5 pages. Jhcompositions #3447235. Published by Jhcompositions (A0.1004069)."My Brother Upton" is a humorous solo Bass/ singer performance piece. It enjoyed some attention at The Hartt School of Music with world famous bassist Robert Black helping to solidify its premier performance. The inspiration for it's virtuosity comes from a similar place as the famous work, "Failing" by Tom Johnson.
The piece is a back in fourth argument of an upright bass and it's player, pretending that the two are fighting siblings. The bass becomes the annoying younger sibling that fights with the performer the whole time. It was performed many times since its debut and would make any recital or concert a hit! A male version is available as well, with alternate lyrics and range.
Duration: Apx. 2'45".
