A march written for piano in 1893 and presented to the bandmaster of the 98th Yurevsky Infantry Regiment (in which Tchaikovsky's nephew was enlisted). Tchaikovsky let the bandmaster produce his own bandstration which varied from the original piano version rhythmically in several places. This arrangement for full orchestra is a combination of the band version and the original for piano.
