Cinema Paradiso is a 1988 coming-of-age drama film written and directed by Giuseppe Tornatore.
The film's soundtrack was composed and directed by Ennio Morricone, with the exception of the song Tema d'amore, composed by his son Andrea. Considered one of Morricone's most famous and successful works, the film's soundtrack is characterized by orchestral symphonies with nostalgic, poignant and melancholy tones, which have remained inextricably linked to the film and entered the collective imagination. The film marked the beginning of the collaboration between Morricone and Tornatore, which continued until the composer's death in 2020, for a total of eleven films. The film's music was awarded the David di Donatello in 1989 and the BAFTA in 1991.
