Published by Jeff Tincher (A0.1801960).Here is the finale of Yes' "Close To The Edge" studio lp titled "And You And I". This project helped define prog rock. The medley is still a part of their live shows today. "Cord of Life" begins showing off Steve Howe's guitar virtuosity before getting into the vocals. The melody point/counterpoint towards the end of this piece is what makes this movement stick out. "Eclipse" begins with an instrumental fanfare that repeats in different keys. The second movement begins in 4/4 but then switches to 6/4 during a short solo that leads into the reprise of a section from the first movement. The third movement, "The Preacher The Teacher" reprises the beginning rubato guitar solo of "Cord of Life" before kicking into a bluegrass version of the first movement melody. Instrumental solo leads back into a rock version of the final "Cord Of Life" melody. The song ends with "The Apocalypse" which begins with a fanfare, a remake of the synth solo in "Cord of Life", before ending with a reprise of the end of "Cord of Life". Duration = 10:39.
