This arrangement is based on the choral “Auferstehn” from the final movement of Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 in C minor (“Resurrection” Symphony). The original setting for chorus has been adapted into a chamber music version for flute, violin, violoncello, and piano.
The principal choral melody has been redistributed among the flute and violin, allowing the lyrical and expansive character of the theme to be expressed through blended instrumental timbres. In selected passages, the melody is shared between instruments to preserve the sense of growth and intensification present in the original choral writing.
