A film version directed by Francis Ford Coppola followed in 1968 starring Fred Astaire and Petula Clark. The story is about an Irishman who comes to the U.S. with his daughter - and there's even a leprechaun in the tale! Needles to say, the music is Irish-tinged, but includes a wee bit of R&B and gospel influences. Fittingly, the lilting melody of "Look to the Rainbow" flows beautifully for string quartet.
