Jesus Christ the Apple Tree 4-Part - Sheet Music

SATB choir, a cappella - Medium Difficult/Difficult

SKU: PL.0322

Composed by Donald Nally. Choral, Advent, General. Octavo. Paraclete Press #0322. Published by Paraclete Press (PL.0322).

This is a significant addition to the Advent repertoire. Mr. Nally has set a classic text to music of intense expression and anticipation. Four of the five verses share a mildly dissonant style with an interesting chromaticism at the refrain of "Christ the Apple Tree." The central verse is lighter and brighter in spirit reflecting the "glory which now I can see." the music is set primarily in the middle voice with phrases of a elegant sweep and breadth. The coda develops the refrain into more expansive lyricism and the motet ends in peace. This work is also an excellent choice for Carol concerts.
